Her work is centered on helping people feel confident and at home in their bodies, through hyper-realistic areola restoration, scar camouflage, permanent makeup and custom body art.

That background shapes her approach at Vixen Ink: every client is met with empathy, patience and respect for their own story.

After a mastectomy or breast reconstruction, many people no longer have a nipple or areola. A restorative tattoo artist uses layered pigments, light and shadow to create a realistic, three-dimensional areola on the skin. It is a tattoo, not surgery, and most people are advised to wait several months after their last surgery before booking one.
For many survivors it is the last step after reconstruction, and the one that makes the chest look like their own again.

How is Desert Harvest funding the tattoos?
We pay Vixen Ink directly for restorative areola tattoos for at least four breast cancer survivors this October. The amount is set in advance and does not depend on sales.
Does buying something fund the tattoos?
No. The tattoos are funded directly by Desert Harvest. No purchase is needed, and no part of any sale is set aside for them.
What is a restorative areola tattoo?
It is a tattoo that recreates the look of a nipple and areola after a mastectomy or reconstruction, using layered pigment and shading to give a three-dimensional appearance. It is not surgery.
Does insurance cover areola tattoos?
Sometimes. The federal Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act requires most health plans that cover a mastectomy to cover reconstruction, and many plans count areola tattooing as part of it. Coverage often depends on who does the tattoo and on a doctor's referral, so ask your plan before you book.
