A Note from Our CEO

Heather Florio is the second-generation owner and CEO of Desert Harvest, where she has played a vital role since 1993. After studying Leadership and Organizational Management at the University of Denver, Heather built a successful career in the entertainment industry, managing venues and coordinating global events for top-tier musicians. Her diverse leadership background laid the groundwork for her eventual return to the family business. In 2012, upon her parents’ retirement, Heather officially stepped into the role of CEO. Under her visionary leadership, Desert Harvest has experienced remarkable growth—expanding by over 1500%. She has leveraged her deep operational expertise and a lifelong passion for advocacy, channeling her knowledge of women’s health to drive innovation, education, and greater access to care for underserved communities. Heather’s leadership and impact have earned national recognition. She was named one of Authority Magazine’s Top 50 Women in Wellness in 2021 and was featured in Forbes in 2022 as a leading woman in business. Outside of the office, Heather finds joy in spending time with her husband, their three sons, and the family’s three dogs—balancing her professional success with a strong commitment to family and well-being.

A Note from Our COO

Anthony Florio represents the third generation of leadership at family-owned Desert Harvest, a company he’s been part of since childhood—packing boxes, answering phones, and learning the business from the ground up. Determined to build his own path, Anthony enlisted in the Army National Guard after high school, where he developed strong leadership, management, and strategic problem-solving skills that now serve him well in his professional journey. Today, as Chief Operating Officer, Anthony is helping shape the future of Desert Harvest. He brings a fresh perspective and deep dedication to the company’s mission of advancing healthcare education and supporting underserved and underrecognized communities. He lives by the motto, “If you’re healthy, you’re wealthy,” a belief that drives his approach to both business and life. Outside of work, Anthony is passionate about travel, fitness, skiing, and all things sushi. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Shelby, their two dogs, and his extended family—staying grounded in the values that have shaped both his life and the legacy of Desert Harvest.

A Note from Our HRM

Shelby was born and raised in North Carolina and began her journey with Desert Harvest in 2016 as a part-time team member while still in high school. After attending the University of North Carolina, she returned to the company full-time, drawn by the sense of purpose she found in working for a business that genuinely helps people. Over the years, Shelby’s role at Desert Harvest evolved along with her connection to the Florio family. As her relationship with now-husband Anthony Florio grew, so did her commitment to the company. Now serving as Desert Harvest’s Bookkeeper and Human Resources Manager, Shelby combines precision and purpose in her work—helping keep operations running smoothly behind the scenes. What she loves most about her role is being part of a mission-driven company that’s making a real difference in an often-overlooked area of healthcare. Outside the office, you’ll find Shelby enjoying life with Anthony and their two beloved dogs, Xander and Athena, exploring Colorado’s scenic outdoors and embracing the next chapter of their journey together.
